ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is first to verify the effects of psychological burnout on parenting stress in Christian working mothers of infants and toddlers. Second, it is to prove the mediating effects of self-encouragement and emotional support in the relationship between parenting stress and psychological burnout of Christian working mothers of infants and toddlers. The subjects of this study were 202 Christian working mothers with infants and toddlers(0-6 years)and analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. The results are as follows: First, there was a significant correlation between parenting stress, psychological burnout, self-encouragement and emotional support in Christian working mothers of infants and toddlers. Second, the mediating effect of self-encouragement and emotional support was found to be significant in the relationship between parenting stress and psychological burnout. These results suggest that self-encouragement and emotional support can be applied as key therapeutic variables in Christian parent education and counseling to recover and prevent psychological burnout caused by parenting stress. In addition, it is meaningful that basic data were presented so that a Christian group counseling program that promotes self-encouragement and emotional support could be developed.
