AB - This study proposes a Christian counseling treatment model for clients with Rejection Sensitivity (RS) by systematically analyzing the narratives of six biblical figures—Cain, Ahithophel, Jephthah, David, the Gerasene demoniac, and Jesus Christ—from the perspective of RS theory. Through literature review and narrative analysis, the study found that the maladaptive group shared patterns of identity dependent on external approval, overperception of rejection, three dysfunctional emotional pathways—externalization, internalization, and avoidance—communal disengagement, and obsessive control over outcomes. The adaptive group, in contrast, demonstrated recovery through God-grounded identity, receptivity to intervention, healthy emotional expression, communal connection, and entrusting outcomes to God. Notably, the Gerasene demoniac's case reveals that a preceding experience of unconditional acceptance is the pivotal mechanism for RS healing. From these contrastive patterns, the study inductively derived the GRACE (Grounding–Recognition–Affect Regulation–Community–Entrusting) five-stage counseling model for RS treatment and presented its clinical applications in Christian counseling practice. Furthermore, by reconceptualizing RS as approval addiction within the theological category of spiritual identity, this study offers practical counseling guidelines for the Christian counseling field.
