Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic posed unforeseen challenges for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), exacerbating their pre-existing hardship. Although micro enterprises for families with individuals with IDD　have received attention in more developed countries as a means to enhance autonomy and independence, little is known about the personal implications for people with IDD and their family members in less developed societies. This study explored the experiences of families with adult children who have IDD and have initiated micro enterprises in South Korea. A series of semi-structured interviews with three co-founders who started a dried-rice workshop near Seoul were conducted during late November 2019 to January 2020. This study illustrates how family-based startups can offer meaningful employment opportunities for adult children with IDD and reduce burden of constant caregiving from their aging family members. The study demonstrated the initial objectives, business selection, success factors, and challenges faced by these families in the Korean context. It is crucial for scholars and practitioners to acknowledge the importance of both seeking job opportunities for adult children with IDD and maintaining strong family connections. Furthermore, gaining firsthand knowledge on these individuals’ unique competencies is vital to effectively tailor employment conditions to suit their specific needs.

The complex and evolving relationship between Armenia and Turkey stands as a critical flashpoint in the modern Eurasian geopolitical landscape, with repercussions stretching beyond their borders. This study endeavors to fill a gap in the existing literature by examining how Turkish media influences public perception and communicates foreign policy objectives, particularly in the aftermath of the Third Artsakh War and the ongoing reconciliation process. This study is Undertaking an extensive analysis of the Turkish English-language press discourse surrounding the Armenian-Turkish conflict. Special attention is devoted to specific discourses such as the Artsakh problem and the “Zangezur corridor.” By closely scrutinizing media narratives, this section aims to provide invaluable insights into how the Turkish press portrays and molds the narrative surrounding the conflict. The findings of this research contribute to a deeper understanding of how media discourse shapes public policies and perceptions, impacting the diplomatic and geopolitical landscape in the region. The study sheds light on the complex interplay between media representation, foreign policy objectives, and the intricacies of post-war reconciliation efforts. Ultimately, the research underscores the pivotal role of media in the Armenian-Turkish conflict’s broader geopolitical context, where regional and global players are deeply entwined.

In Korea’s rural society, the community itself is changing into a care society due to rapid aging, and regional development policies are also undergoing a paradigm shift toward establishing a space-centered lifestyle, culture, and welfare delivery system. The purpose of this article is to critically examine regional development projects from the methodological aspect of group practice and help define the concept of welfare leadership by deriving leadership characteristics for rural welfare. For this purpose, this study selected the case of the only village in the Wonju region that carried out a regional development project with the theme of welfare and analyzed how the interaction between leaders and residents changed depending on the situation over time. As a result of the study, firstly, welfare leadership depends on events or environmental characteristics of the village rather than individual characteristics; second, the conflict between the power of residents and leaders varies depending on the situation of residents’ cohesion; and third, strengthening of residents’ cohesion With the strengthening of leadership, this in turn led to downward power through empowerment, creating a virtuous cycle of power. This study found that the concept of leadership for rural welfare is different from the leadership characteristics theory that emphasizes personal characteristics and qualities that have been mainstream, and that it is based on the situational characteristics of the event, the cohesion of residents, and the relationship characteristics between residents and leaders. This implies that the concept of situational leadership, which is a flow, must be defined with more importance in mind. In theory, this fact is expected to contribute to establishing the concept of leadership theory for welfare, and in practice, it is expected to contribute to leadership education for a caring society in local development practice
