ABSTRACT

Since the turn to the 21th century, we are facing multi-dimensional global crises and the traditional Keynesian welfare state could not solve them. Thus new paradigm for capitalist economy and the welfare state are demanding. The author suggests ‘community welfare regime’ based on the social economy as an alternative paradigm. The concept and theory of community welfare regime are derived from the Polanyian ideas of reembeddedness and plural economy. The basic aim of this paper is to critically discuss some important conceptual and theoretical issues and their clarifications and explore the possibility of the future developmental path.
