ABSTRACT

This article studies how the emotional labors of workers in public institutes influence their commitment to the organization and job satisfaction. As the importance of providing high-quality service in public institutes increases, the burden of emotional labor has grown for the employees in the institutes. According to the survey collected from workers in public institutes, emotional labor lowered the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of employees in public institutes. Notably, personal job fitness mediated the influences of emotional labor on organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Emotional labor decreased the perceived personal job fitness, leading to low organizational commitment. Also, emotional labor lowered the perceived personal job fitness, resulting in low job satisfaction.
