ABSTRACT

This study aimed to create and implement a Facilitating-chatbot to enhance synchronous online discussions using the Six Thinking Hats method. Slack, a popular collaboration tool, served as the messenger platform. Leveraging Slack’s plug-ins, the researchers developed a chatbot utilizing the RTMClient (Real-Time Messaging) API, specifi cally version 2.9.3 of the Python slackclient module. The system database utilized Excel, managed through the Python openpyxl module version 3.0.7, with each chat group allocated its own Excel sheet. The usability of the Facilitating-chatbot was evaluated with 58 college students, yielding an average score of 4.52. Qualitative analysis of user experiences revealed that features such as guided learning using Six Thinking Hats, task tracking, and participation monitoring facili tated effective discussions and enhanced user engagement. Future im provements include enhancing command input and providing in telligent feedback to users.
