AB - This study examined the concepts and contents of self-transcendence discussed in various academic fields such as psychology, philosophy, and pedagogy, and explored directions that can be incorporated into coaching-related research. Research related to self-transcendence was an early concern for human potential development. Since then, it has led to an exploration of human needs at a higher level. As a result of reviewing previous studies that can be discussed in incorporating the concept of self-transcendence from the theoretical point of view of coaching, the following perspectives of self-transcendence can be examined. First, from a theoretical point of view, the discussion on the next transition has been about self-transformation from the perspective of self-expansion or self-expansion. Second, an integrated approach from a holistic perspective. Third, it is expanding to research in terms of transformation of individual consciousness. The coherent approach of looking at coaching from an ego-transcendence perspective is more valuable in the sense that it creates the best opportunity for the rise of human collective consciousness. In terms of coaching practice, the expansion of self-concept also increases the likelihood of understanding others and promoting collaboration. The concept of self-transcendence, in which individuals are not separate beings but connected as one, is discussed as another area applied to coaching, will not only expand the possibility that coaching can be used as a useful tool for raising human consciousness, but also have academic significance in that it presents another research direction for the sustainable development of coaching.
