ABSTRACT

The process of reading and interpreting classical Korean poetry (hansi) using generative AI, such as ChatGPT, represents an interdisciplinary approach that combines technology and the humanities. This research methodology can be practically applied in the operation of university liberal arts courses. When users input a hansi poem into ChatGPT, the AI can help them understand the poem by explaining individual words, phrases, or the overall meaning, thereby enhancing learners' comprehension skills. Additionally, in the context of course management, GPT can be utilized to assist in teaching students how to interpret hansi poetry. Furthermore, it is possible for students to ask questions and receive answers through AI chat, or for the AI to present interpretations of hansi that students can compare and understand. Expanding the use of ChatGPT also allows for the creation of new hansi poems or the exploration of possibilities for modern adaptations. Moreover, the tool can be instrumentally used to analyze the structure, rhythm, form, and musical effects of hansi poetry. This study closely examines prior research related to the convergence of generative AI and classical Korean studies to explore the potential for interdisciplinary fusion. From the academic perspective of digital Sinology, it assesses the current state and future prospects of hansi interpretation, investigating the potential integration with generative AI. Next, it reviews 'prompt input' strategies and practical application cases for hansi interpretation. The study also examines the utility and significance of ChatGPT as an auxiliary tool for learners in the operation of hansi interpretation courses at the university level. Finally, it proposes a 'deep reading' methodology using ChatGPT and draws relevant conclusions. Based on this, the study explores effective utilization strategies and their significance for future course management.
