ABSTRACT

The aim of this thesis is to study strategic difference of the writing on changes of media. Come to see me, the play by Kim, Kwang-rim which was written in 1996 and Memories of Murder, the scenario by Bong, Jun-ho and Shim, Sung-boo which was written in 2003. A subject matter of these texts is all one the consecutive murder incidents in Hwa sung city. Above all Come to see me, an original work is created a factual account of the crime and later Memories of Murder is adapted from the play. Scenario is similar to play in some aspects, but there are many differences in two narrative structures, it´s like this. First, ultimately the difference in the space, received a narrative. According to the differences of a proscenium arch and frame, scenario is reconstructed from play that alters the dramatic structure to the sequence for film, so that the film is not true to the original. Second, the changes of the language how to express oneself. Because of a film is dependent on camera so that unlike a play, scenario uses different language on imitation of the real world. Play depends on dramatic dialogues on the other hand film depends on images. Third, the changes of dramatic personae. Play must to concentrate upon the character on the stage which creates dramatic illusion. Come to see me keeps well to the regulations limited in the place and person. One the other hand, Memories of Murder makes practical application of the place and settles a primary major role. The scenario towards more and more accurate verisimilitude than the play. Forth, the changes of the theme, according to the view a matter from a different standpoint. Play is focused on philosophical speculation but scenario has a new angle that is focused on sociological vision.
