A Study on History Plays of Park Chung Hee Regime Period- Focus on King Sejo's Usurpation Motive -

ABSTRACT

This article exam problems of historical consciousness and reality recognition focused on four history plays including <Zhenha>(Shin, 1962), <Tae>(Oh, 1974), <Cadenza>(Lee, 1978), <Gil>(Kim, 1978) during Park Chung Hee regime period. History plays not only embody historical consciousness but also include sharp reality recognition. In other words, history plays would be based on historical facts to the extend of which is from selection of subject matter to reproducing contents. Under these presupposition, this article retrace definition and category of the above four history plays. Also, this article try to suggest how history plays reflect in real world and what the meaning is by using culture materialism approach. It is important that the above four history plays rationalized 5․16 military coup or showed passive resistance so that side effect of passive resistance roused defeatism. In this sense, Methodology of analysis use Louis Althusser's ideology and ideological national organization in order to study text producing context which apply this sense of sight. This article argue suspicion and problem that four history plays have been evaluated as resistance regardless of author's intention. Thus, approach of how history plays of 60s〜70s' Park Chung Hee regime period are read and shown by focusing on function of media and culture as ideological national organization is the significant methodology.
