AB - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the collection of the books published and stored in Sosu Seowon(紹修書院). Sosu Seowon was the first established private academy of Chosun dynasty with a good academic library. Here I studied the origin, the founder of the library, administration, books published and stored, catalogues and the features of the library.The library was established by Sinjae(愼齋) Ju Se-bung(周世鵬), who bought 43 titles of 505 books. Thereafter books accumulated by donations (from kings, province officials, academies, privates), publishing and purchase. Regulations(院規) were implanted for the administration of the academy. One regulation on books meant books must be read in the compound of Seowon. Books were aired and inventoried every year, and were intermittently catalogued. As a result 8 catalogues remain at present day.Books increased to 236 titles, but gradually scattered over time and now stand at 30 titles 145 books. The main subjects were Confucianism(儒學) and history(歷史), and many books in quantity were munjjib(文集), confucian works. But other philosophical books(子學) excluding Confucianism were not found much. There were 7 titles engraved by woodblocks(板木) at Sosu Seowon, including Chuwonrog 追遠錄 and Jug-gye-ji 竹溪誌
