AB - The writer investigated the academic values of the titles based upon book annotations included in Nupango, or An Annotated Classification of Union Catalog of Printing Blocks, which was published by Pungseok Seo Yu-gu's in 1796. This paper examined various types of evaluative methods adopted in Nupango, and then compare them to the modern general library criteria of book selection. Analyzing the nature of the catalog and the particular historical situation, the academic qualities of books listed in Nupango are even more excellent than the modern criteria for good books.
