ABSTRACT

In this a study, I based on data of calligraphic style of Seongjusajinangheahwa- sangbi written in late Unified Shilla by Choi En-Wui, and studied about aesthetic worth of calligraphy which his Haeso has. For a long time, many researchers had said that his Haeso had been influenced by Haeso of Tang Dynasty. Through this study, however, it was found out that the style of Choi En-Wui had been influenced by Haeso of the Southern and Northern Dynasties as well as Tang Dynasty, and that it was a close relation to aesthetic consciousness of Korean traditional calligraphy which is characterized for free form in the aspect of formative principle, or rather, Chinese calligraphy.
