ABSTRACT

Based on the bibliographic approach, the study investigated the historical value of Kwanseumhungheumgi(觀世音應驗記) which contains decisive evidence regarding the argue for transferring the capital to Iksan during the King Mu period of Paekche. Kwanseumhungheumgi, which is presently located at Shoren In Chungryunwon(靑蓮院) in Kyoto, Japan, contains 2 articles about Paekche at the end of the book. According to the result of the investigation on these 2 articles, Baulchong(發正)'s has lots of wrong or missing characters while Jeseuksa(帝釋寺)'s doesn't. Especially while the character ‘pa(波)’ from Kyumkangpayakeyung(金剛‘波’若經) in the article of Jeseuksa has been considered to be the wrong character of ‘ban(般)’, the study claims that it had been in common use as an abbreviation in ancient script of Kyumkangkeyung(金剛經), and the actual occurrence can be seen at Dunghyaungsakyeung(敦煌寫經). This means the content of the article about the argue for transferring the capital during King Mu period is reliable.
