This study is to investigate the bibliographical characteristics of Pophwakyong- hyunchan-hegotongkum-sincho vol. 12 found in the chests of four-guardian statutes at the Songgwang-sa, Sooncheon. In particular, the study analyzes in the four aspects such as: 1) the history of four-guardian gates and statutes of the Songgwang-sa ; 2) the physical and bibliographical characteristics of the Buddhist scriptures ; 3) the comparison of Pophwakyong-hyunchan-hegotongkum-sincho vol. 12 and the Bulgung-sa Edition vol. 56: annotator, the bibliographical characteristics, proofing and engraving.These Buddhist scriptures, except Taewidok-darani vol.1 can be called a kyojang. Among these kyojang, Pophwakyong-hyunchan-hegotongkum-sincho vol. 12 belongs to the Liao Edition which were newly found at the Songgwang-sa, and vol. 56 were found at the Bulgung-sa, China. The annotator and bibliographical characteristics of these books were studied, the proofing and engraving of Songgwang-sa Edition vol. 2 and the Bulgung-sa Edition vol. 2 were compared. these books were carved at the Kyojangdokam by using the Liao Edition and reprinted in the Kankyongdokam. It is approved that Pophwakyong-hyunchan-hegotongkum-sincho vol. 12 are at once the Koryo kyojang and belongs to the Liao Edition and have the value of cultural properties as a national treasure. The results of this study will be contributed for research the kyojang and utilized as important resources in the fields of bibliographical science, Korean studies, and Buddhist sciences, and others.

This research is to try to observe the feature and meaning of two books, Myobeopyeonhwagyeonghyeonui, Beophwamungugi with name of engravers. Research result could be summarized as follows: 1) it is about 2/3 for the engravers' name entered in margin of leaves, 2) the others are printed by supplement plates, 3) this fact means that original plates and economic situation were not good, 4) between the original plates and supplemental plates, there was a common feature like engravers' name, font, space of lines, outside line, etc., 5) and that means two books were published by similar body in almost same time, same place, 6) so many engravers were participated to large publishing project, not to printing only two books, 7) there was a difference to each ability of engravers carves the letters on the woodblock, 8) each engraver had his own style and ideal font.

It was examined the 14 books of Buddhist scriptures which is composed of 12 kinds, which were found in the center of chest on the Four-guardian statues of Songgwang-sa at Sooncheon city, when the statues were repaired and taken to the pieces in February 2004.The Buddhist scriptures are lost some parts of covers. Because the Four-guardian statues are located in poor environment including the plague of vermin and the exposition of air, the scriptures had been exposed to the same hazard.This study is the basic examination by reference for conservation of the Buddhist scriptures. There are the other 5 Buddhist scriptures in Songgwang-sa, which are the national cultural relics. They have already been examined about the quality of the lumber through the project for conservation of cultural relic from 2002 till 2003. Therefore, this comparative study will give us much information. Additionally, I think this examination is a good chance to confirm the result of the earlier research of the 5 Buddhist scriptures
