AB - This study is to observe publishing cultural significance of publication in the 17th century and systemize block books through survey of existing prints, printing place, physical bibliographic characteristics of The Annotation of Fore Books(四書諺解) published in the same times.Tried to physical bibliographic analysis, related with style of engraving, classification of new kinds of prints and indication of wood engraver on The Annotation of Fore Books. Gyongseoja bokgakbon(經書字復刻本) and similar block books play an important part in the publications of The Annotation of Fore Books in the 17th century as a representative block book published by government offices. They were published in the metropolis for supply. Same category books were published and supplied several times. It realized basic objectives confucianism ethical reinforcement and social discipline establishment and helped to prepare standard teaching materials for the gentry.
