AB - Information services for rare old booksbased on oriental thoughtsare rather unfamiliar to general librarians who did not specialize in this field, and even to those librarians specializing in rare olde books, subject searches and classification are somewhat a burden. In this research, investigated are the issues in order to help lessen the burden of librarians and improve the understanding and use of old documents by researchers in the fields of Oriental Studies and Koreanology. Since the themes of Joungseo-Ryu are very complicated among all those subject divisions in the catalogues of old documents, it seems important to understand its contents from the modern viewpoint. Therefore, this research aims to help librarians perform better subject searches and classification as well as researchers use more actively old documentsby reviewing the development and changes in the subject subdivisions of Joungseo-Ryu and analyzing the origins and contents of various topics in this subject.
