AB - This is the bibliographic study of the third volume of The Lotus Sutra(妙法蓮華經) found in the statues of Ten Kings, the Hall of Judgement, Bulgapsa in Youngkwang, Jeollanamdo. The characteristics of The Lotus Sutra investigated in this study were completely different from what have so far been found in other editions in Korea. An analysis of such features as the styles of ‘卷首題’(the first title) and calligraphy rather shows its similarities to the manuscripts of Dunhuang(敦煌). So, it is concluded that this particular Lotus Sutra was the print made in the early 10th century, and had the value as one of the early prints produced during the transitional period when manuscripts were largely converted into prints.
