This paper aims to examine Heo Jun's Eonhae(“Korean-translated Version”) medical texts and their related editions. The paper will examine the subject in the following order: Naeuiwon(royal clinic in the Joseon Dynasty) and its compilation and publication of medical texts; the compilation and publication of Eonhaegoogeupbang, Eonhae- doochangjipyo, and Eonhaetaesanjipyo; the form and contents of the Eonhae books; a comparison of the Eonhae books and Donguibogam; the editions related to the Eonhae texts; and the Korean language characteristics of the Eonhae texts. Naeuiwon, in charge of compiling and publishing medical texts, established a separate bureau from the 41st year of King Seonjo's reign (1608) to the 7th year of King Gwanghaegun's reign (1615) and published medical books compiled, proofread and supervised by court physicians with wooden movable types. Eonhaegoogeupbang was compiled and published from the 34th year of King Sejo's reign(1601) to the 40th year of Seonjo's reign (1607) by referring to Googeupbang published during King Sejo's reign, Donguibogam and several other medical texts. Eonhaedoochangjipyo was made by referring to Changjinjip which Im Wonjun compiled during King Sejo's reign, as well as to other smallpox- related medical texts and Chinese medical texts. Eonhaetaesanjipyo was published in wooden type by Naeuiwon with reference to Taesanyorok, Donguibogam and other gynecology-related medical texts. Since both the original editions of the Eonhae texts and their reprints exist, they are extremely valuable in studying the editions, and excellently represents the notation, phonemes, and lexicons of the modern Korean language used in the 17th century. It is certain that they will be considered important resources in the fields of bibliography, Koreanology and Eastern medicine.

The purpose of this study is to analyzes the compilation, publication and proofreading of Ungokseonsaengjipchosisa. The major findings are as follows:(1) Ungok Won Cheon-Seok was a person who tried to testify the reality of late Goryeo dynasty and early Joseon dynasty. But after all, he retired into Chiaksan in his home town, Wonju, and lived as a recluse for the rest of his life. (2) Ungok directly complied and wrote Yasa and Ungokjip by himself. But only Ungokhaengrok that Won Eun, the sixteenth generation descendant of Ungok, printed the book with wooden types in 1858, was handed down today. (3) Gijae Park Dong-Ryang abstracted Ungokjip in one volume in 1603, then Won Hwi, the tenth generation descendant of Ungok, printed the book with wooden types in 1694. He entitled the book Ungokseonsaengjipchosisa. (4) The result of comparing 13 titles and 18 verses of poems in Ungok- seonsaengjipchosisa with the poems of Ungokhaengrok shows many dif- ferences between two books. (5) Based on editorial features, contained contents, and publishing characteristics, Ungokseonsaengjipchosisa deserves to be researched and preserved as well as designated as a local tangible cultural asset.

This is the bibliographic study of the third volume of The Lotus Sutra(妙法蓮華經) found in the statues of Ten Kings, the Hall of Judgement, Bulgapsa in Youngkwang, Jeollanamdo. The characteristics of The Lotus Sutra investigated in this study were completely different from what have so far been found in other editions in Korea. An analysis of such features as the styles of ‘卷首題’(the first title) and calligraphy rather shows its similarities to the manuscripts of Dunhuang(敦煌). So, it is concluded that this particular Lotus Sutra was the print made in the early 10th century, and had the value as one of the early prints produced during the transitional period when manuscripts were largely converted into prints.
