ABSTRACT

Sambongjib is the collection of Jeong Do-jeon' writings, and its first edition was published in two volumes as the selection of several poetry and prose in 1397. Sambongseonsaengjib, its second edition, was later published in 7 volumes by Jeong Mun-hyeong, his great-grandson in 1465, and re-published with the addition of over 120 leaves in 1487. In 1791, the scholars of Gyujanggak rearranged the contents and published it with the title of Sambongjib as the third edition. With the continuing publication, the title changed from Sambongjib, to Sambongseonsaengjib and again back to Sambongjib, and the order of contents also changed in each edition with the separation and rearrangement of volumes. Therefore, most people were confused with the arrangement and contents of Sambongjib. In this study, the history of publishing Sambongjib was examined and the contents of various volumes in each edition were compared to lessen such confusion. It is expected that this study could help users with an interest in Sambongjib better understand its content and history.
