ABSTRACT

This study aims to prove the bottom books of the First Tripitaka Koreana and the Second Tripitaka Koreana again by comparing and analyzing the Joseongjangbon, the First Tripitaka Korena, and the Second Tripitaka Koreana with the existing 13 kinds of Tripitaka Kai bao, and to clarify the bottom book of the Second Tripitaka Koreana through the analysis of Kyojeongbyullok. In this study, this researcher's idea is again confirmed that the First Tripitaka Koreana and the Second Tripitaka Koreana are the modified ‘bokgakbon’ of Tripitaka Kai bao. Especially for the Second Tripitaka Koreana, Sugi, the Buddhist monk, used largely the Songbon as the first bottom book among the Gookbon, the Danbon, and the Songbon, and compared it with the Gookbon and the Danbon to proofread and correct. In addition, the corrected Songbon was used as a ‘deungjaebon’, the bottom book for making woodblocks of the Second Tripitaka Koreana. And it seems clear that the scriptures, either missing in the Songbon or with some critical faults, were corrected with the Gookbon or the Danbon as the secondary bottom book. Either this corrected bottom book was used as a ‘deungjaebon’ or a newly carved ‘deungjaebon’ was included or substituted in the Second Tripitaka Koreana. Therefore, this researcher's argument over the above fact seems to be well confirmed.
