AB - This study examined the trends and features of old printing cultures in Wan- Young, a provincial office of the Honam (Jeolla Province) by synthesizing the pre- vious researches on the old cultural activities of printings. Jeonju, as a large town in the Honam, was a transportation hub in the Jeolla provincial areas throughout Goryeo and Joseon periods, and there were a lot of books published in this area. Firstly, the study tried to identify more concretely the characteristics of books published in this area by investigating the currently known editions and catalogs of woodblocks, and then examining several cases with the content of editions and the background of publication. Publication of provincial offices was usually carried out by either king’s orders or provincial office’s demand, Wan-Young did the same. This study classified and looked into the type of books published by Wan- Young by reviewing the previous researches and the records of Sillok, and presented them in tables. It is expected that this result could be used for systemizing researches on local publications in other areas, listed in the catalogues of woodblocks.
