A Study on the Memorial Stones of the Haepyeong Yun, Jeonggyeong-buin

ABSTRACT

This study analyzes on the memorial stones of the Haeaepyeong Yun, Jeonggyeong-buin. The major findings are as follows:(1) Memorial stones are the epigraphic materials which contains the records of buried person such as one’s family clan(本貫), name(諱), pedigree(系譜), activities (行蹟), the date of birth and death(生沒事項), family relations(家族關係), and the location(位置) or the aspect(坐向) of grave etc. (2) According to the memorial stones of Haeaepyeong Yun, she was a wife of Kim Ik-Gyeom(1614-1636) who died for keeping his fidelity during the war Byeongjaholan (丙子胡亂). She was born in September 1617 (Gwanghaegun 7), married Kim Ik-Gyeom in 1630 (Injo 8), and passed away the age of 73 in December 1689 (Sukjong 15). (3) The memorial stones of Haeaepyeong Yun consist of 15 sheets in total, and the title is <Jeonggyeong-buin Haeaepyeong Yun ssi myoji (貞敬夫人海平尹氏墓誌)>. The main records are engraved in the planes of each stone, while the name and the order of the stones are carved in the sides of each stone. (4) The records of the memorial stones of Haeaepyeong Yun were compiled with <Seonbi Jeonggyeong-buin Haengjang (先妣貞敬夫人行狀)> written by her second son Kim Man-Jung, and <Jimun (識文)> written by Kim Jin-Gu (1651-1704) who is grandson of her. (5) The memorial stones of Haeaepyeong Yun which the museum of Cheongju university possesses were transcribed and produced with handwriting by his grandson Kim Jin-Gu on August in 1694(Sukjong 20). (6) As biographic materials of Haeaepyeong Yun who was in historic periods with important historical figures, the memorial stones of Haeaepyeong Yun need to be classified as rare and precious materials, and it seems worth being designated and preserved as a local cultural property.
