ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the Injo’s reading career in the Gyeongyeon(經筵) of Joseon Dynasty. To investigate the Silrog (the book which records the history of Korea), it knew the reading material, a reading act and attitude which he read in the Crown prince time. Major findings are as the follows; The reading materials that he read for 27years were 7 titles, that is, Noneo(論語), Daehag(大學), Maengja(孟子), Jungyong(中庸), Seogyeong(書經), Sigyeong(詩經) and Daehagyeonui(大學衍義). He was the king who disliked reading, moreover from 1623 to 1649, when he was in power, he was not almost present at the reading discussion of the Gyeongyeon (經筵). The number of times that he participated to the Jogang’s reading discussion was 101, and the Jugang(晝講) was 453, Seoggang(夕講) and Yadae(夜對) was 30, Sodae(召對) was 98. He was the king who disliked reading, moreover he was not almost present at the reading discussion of the Gyeongyeon(經筵) at the end of long-term seizure of power. As a result, the analysis showed that Injo’s desire to reading was much lower than the late king’s reading career.
