He was born in January 1497, the 3rd year of King Yonsan’s reign, and died at the age of 83 in May 1579, the 12th year of King Seonjo’s reign. Having lived in Boeun for his whole life, he was constant in his devotion to learning. (3) The memorial stones of Seong Un consist of 7 sheets in total, and the title is written as Yumyeong Joseonguk Tonghundaebu Sajegamjeong Seonggong Myoji. The main records are engraved on one sides of each stone’s plane. (4) There were no records on the memorial stones of Seong Un who wrote the main contexts and how the memorial stones were created. It is supposed that Kim Ga Gi, the Successor of Dae Gok, wrote and edited the contexts of inscriptions by referring to Daegokchesa Seongun Jolgi of the Annals of the Choson Dynasty and Dangsuk Daegokseonsaeng Myogalgi of Seong Hon. (5) An exact family relationship about descendants of Dae Gok had often been subject to arguments among the scholars later. Song Si Yeol and Yun Seon Geo were representative scholars who seemed to have some different opinions on inheritable matters of Dae Gok. (6) As biographic materials of Seong Un, the memorial stones of Seong Un can be used for valuable informative materials to analysis him and his learning. For these reasons, the memorial stones of Seong Un constantly need to study, manage and preserve by designating as a local cultural properties.
