ABSTRACT

This study is about the Donghyang-Gyehoecheop (the brochures to commemorate a fraternity association gathering of officials from the same region) focusing on the SamcheongdongDohoedocheop, in Choseon dynasty. There were 7 kinds 22 items of Donghyang-Gyehoecheop from 1589 to 1656 in the manner of the original, copy, or inclusion in the literature. SamcheongdongDohoedocheop was made after officials held a meeting to celebrate successful candidates from Gyeongsang-do passed the Samashi in 1654. The background of the meetings were for friendship, but there were also specific reasons, such as the welcome of those who passed the civil service exams. The Gyehoecheop were produced by selecting one of the participants of the meeting, and the cost was shared by the participants. The participants’ hometowns were mainly villages around the Nakdonggang River. Fathers, sons, and brothers attended the meeting for generations, certain families have taken the lead in the gathering.
