ABSTRACT

This study reveal the composition and characteristics of works by comparing Appeals, Letters, Prefaces and postscripts contained in two types of Maesanjip by Hong Jik-pil, the wooden movable-type printing 28 book (=published) and the manuscript 224 book (=proofread). Appeals are included in 31 works in the published books, and there are 53 works including duplicates, 41 works without duplicates in the manuscript. Letters are included in 1,017 works in the published books, and there are 8,545 works including duplicates, 6,357 works without duplicates in the manuscript. The number of recipients is 410 in the published book, 956 in the manuscript, and 404 in common. And 6 recipients are verified only in the published books, 552 recipients are verified only in the manuscript. Prefaces and postscripts are included in 45 works in the published books, and there are 394 works including duplicates, 237 works without duplicates in the manuscript.
