AB - Chae-Manshik’s pro-Japanese writings were not originated from outer pressure and apostasy but from his inner pro-Japanese logic. And his inner pro-Japanese logic was tightly related to his consistent negative standpoint of Korea’s negative traditions and western modern capitalistic individualism or liberalism. But we can find that he maintained consistent inner pro-Japanese logic on the level of consciousness, but he revealed on the level of unconsciousness that the pro-Japanese logic could not agree with his sense of reality. After the 1945 Liberation of Korea, this sense of reality could make himself reflect on his pro-Japanese standpoint and finally he could be awakened to the new significance of historical situations.
