AB - In this paper, we investigate the Korean auxiliary verb system. This is one of the most extensively analyzed empirical domains in the literature on generative syntax. There are major two treatments of auxiliaries ― morphological and syntactical approach ―, because the Korean auxiliary system has both the characteristics of a morphological construction and those of a syntactic construction. Our analysis treats auxiliaries as a syntactic head(but main verbs are semantic head). And we are intend to suggest three basic observations about the auxiliary system in this paper, like as non-transformational surface oriented, linear order based, and agglutinative confirmed.
