ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is reviewing all the articles on grammar and on semantics and on some other discipline listed in Korean Language and Literature of The Korean Language and Literature Society. The numbers of articles that we review are 324. All of articles are published from 1963 to this year 2013. Research trends of grammar and semantics of Korean Language and Literature are:1) Average number of articles are upsurging in 1980’. And twice and quarterly publishing policy makes this trend go on or makes it more. 2) Most of subdiscipline represents similar development in time and amount. Discourse and Pragmatics, unlike morphology, syntax, lexicology and semantics, appear to be late and scarce in development and amount of articles. 3) All the subdiscipline starts from introducing theory of general linguistics and turn the theme over matter of Korean. This trend makes Korean language education and Korean corpus linguistics more interested, because synthetic research is more and more needed. So this paper suggest for the development of research on grammar and semantics subdiscipline to the Society:1) It is needed the balance between theoretical research and material research, and the Society makes effort and support this trend. 2) For each subdiscipline, the theme of research is scattered evenly, though this trend cannot be driven by anyone. 3) The Society must make opportunity to debate between individual researchers and the journal support this via space.
