ABSTRACT

The current Korean Spacing Regulations are feared by many people. Because there are many problems inherent in the current Korean Spacing Regulation from the superficial problems to the essential problems. The one of the essential problem is that the current regulations use words as a unit of writing. But in fact, a word is an unclear unit that is not easy to define. So the current regulations explain the change of words into ‘parts of speech’, which is in fact one of the ways to identify words, not a description of word itself. Therefore, there is a need to explore alternatives. Above all, we need to know that we speak as a unit of components such a ‘subject’ or ‘predicate’ when using sentences. If we introduce the component units, there is a much better explanation above the present regulations, because it is possible to eliminate the exception such as Section 41. In addition, more consistent explanations are possible, considered ‘noun + postposition particle’ can be used as a variety of components.
