ABSTRACT

In the narrative form of the narrative text, it is once possible to separate what the focalizer sees with the eye from the narrator talks with the mouth. But the focalizer is on the narrator's mouth, as the mere sight of the eye does not bear the aspect of the verbalness. There is something not to misunderstand the focalizer relied on the narrator's mouth. The focalizer is not just the perception of what he sees with his eyes, but the control of things beyond the privileges enjoyed by the speaker or narrator. It is important not only to discover the perceptual, psychological and ideological facets through the focalizer, but also to re-cognize that the focalizer is a presence with such multiple phases. Generally speaking, 「Yuye」’s point of view use the first-person point of view mixed with an omniscient writer's point of view. But some first-person text as well as third-person text shows an external focalization. In this respect, I have taken the framework of the analysis as a focalization theory. Related to focalization, 「Yuye」 shows the characteristics of external focalization. And among external and internal perception, the latter is particularly impressive. In some parts of the text, however, internal focalization is also found. This means that 「Yuye」 is an external focalization based on internal focalization. Perhaps 「Yuye」 can be seen as the interaction state of these two focalization, which will be the literary nature of 「Yuye」. Meanwhile, the external perception and the internal perception of internal focalization-oriented in 「Yuye」 is characterized by its field as a battlefield and the main character's psychological embossing. This was apparently due to the writer's intention to make an acute angle the situation and personal conflicts. In this regard, 「Yuye」 was able to take on the significance of novel-history that presented the value of human existence as an individual in an era of war or crisis after war.
