ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to analyze error types of Vietnamese leaners’ mispronunciation of the Korean double-final consonants through the writing and speaking experiments. The outcome of the writing experiment showed that the error rate of the beginners group was 82%, the intermediate group 74% and the advanced group 62%. On the other hand, in the speaking experiment, the error rate of the beginners group was 65%, the intermediate group 56% and the advanced group 36%. Both in the writing and speaking experiments, high rate of errors mainly came out with the words for which the latter one between the two of the double-final consonants was pronounced. That is because Vietnamese learners tend to pronounce only the former consonant when they pronounce words of double-final consonants. It would greatly help them learn correct double-final consonants system and final consonants pronunciation that the teachers of the Korean language understand the error types of Vietnamese learners in double-final consonants pronunciation and give them systematic and continuous education of double-final consonants pronunciation.
