ABSTRACT

This paper aims to analyze the orientalist discourse of Saint- Simonians on the Orient and the various oriental representations, inspired by their faith in the association of Orient and Occident. To understand the relations between the issues of the Orient and French women in the problematic of Saint-Simonians, this work attempts to show that the perspective of Saint-Simonians on women are projected onto their ideas of the Orient. This work aims to show that the femininity of Saint-Simonian representations of the Orient, associated with ideas about women, reveals the traditional notion of the Orient based on the dichotomy between the Orient and the Occident, even if the Saint-Simonians differ from other contemporary in exposing their critical position to the subaltern conditions of the Orient and the French women.
