AB - The beginning of the local theater in Suwon is the Suwon-theater. The ‘Suwon-theater’, which started operating in the 1920s, was also called ‘Suwon-jwa’ and was recognized as a famous spot in Suwon early on. The Suwon-theater was reborn as a corporation in the 1930s. The Suwon-theater was built, maintained, managed and maintained by businessmen such as Yang Gyuryong, who is the maintenance of Suwon, and Hong Sahoon, who was the other maintainer. The Suwon-theater was able to survive as a huge interest group with a complex entanglement of interests between the Suwon Financial Association and Japanese businessmen. What is more noticeable is that this “Suwon-theater” was a huge medium and a common place for the desire and will of Suwon residents. This feature does not end with the Suwon-theater. Since then, theaters built in Suwon have a similarity in that they operate in a way that takes into account the ideals of construction and the intention to operate. Local residents of Suwon watched drama and film, presented their performances and meetings, and consequently gathered and gathered information and ideas of local people at Suwon Theater. So Suwon Theater was a place for human exchange and a cultural exhibition space for local people in Suwon.
