ABSTRACT

This study empirically analyzes the relationship between the usage behavior of travel and leisure mobile apps and marine tourism consumption and stay patterns using pseudonymized big data. Utilizing a pseudonymized dataset of 528,688 users, combining mobile communication data from LG U+ and credit card transaction data from NH Nonghyup Card, the study reveals that higher mobile app usage frequency is significantly associated with increased tourism expenditures, longer stay durations, and more overnight stays in coastal and fishing regions. These findings provide empirical support for the theoretical claims that digital usage behavior influences tourism consumption, offering valuable insights for data-driven marine tourism policy development and smart tourist behavior research.
