This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the local environment that influence dog ownership in Seoul. Using data from the 2022 Seoul Survey, a multilevel analysis was conducted to examine whether individual and household characteristics, satisfaction with the local environment, physical environmental features, and accessibility to pet-related facilities affect dog ownership. At the individual level (Level 1), factors such as individual and household characteristics (gender, educational attainment, housing type, Housing occupancy type, employment status, and average monthly household income) and satisfaction with the local environment (satisfaction with green spaces and cultural activities) were found to significantly influence dog ownership. At the regional level (Level 2), physical environmental features (accessibility to open spaces and walking trails) and Accessibility to pet-related facilities (accessibility to pet-friendly facilities and pet convenience facilities) were identified as major contributing factors. The findings highlight that not only individual and household characteristics but also local environmental factors are significantly associated with dog ownership. This study provides policy implications by emphasizing the need to establish spatial planning standards for pet-friendly environments in future national and urban planning.

This study analyzes the determinants of manufacturing firms’ relocation types varying in the scope and direction of migration and examines the regional employment effects of relocating manufacturing firms. Results are as follows. First, the analysis of the effects of firm and regional level characteristics on manufacturing firms’ relocation reveals that the determinants vary depending on the types of relocation. Therefore, at the regional level, it is necessary to strategically identify target firms and industries by considering distinctive location preference factors for each relocation type, and to develop tailored incentive policies accordingly. Second, the regional employment effects of manufacturing firms’ relocation are assessed. Its results show that, regardless of the scope and direction of relocation, employment growth effects tend to be limited in the short term. In other words, manufacturing firms’ relocation doesn’t serve as a sustainable engine for regional job creation. Accordingly, there is a need to strengthen efforts to reform related systems and to design incentives in order to transform the limited effects of relocation into a more sustainable structure.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and review the current status of data safety zones and spatial data safety zones, and to prepare a plan to upgrade the function of spatial data safety zones as a foundation for innovation using spatial data resources. Three improvement tasks were derived through the current law, system, and current status analysis, and advanced measures were presented to improve accessibility to various spatial data, advance innovation creation infrastructure, and foster digital talent in the future. The plan presented in this study can be said to be a relationship in which mutual influence is exchanged as a connected functional element. In order to become a powerhouse for spatial data innovation, it will be necessary to gradually advance the functions of spatial data safety zones, promote utilization, and systematize and stabilize the system.
