AB - The purpose of this study is to find out the social and cultural significance of the complex landscape of Chinese contemporary dance, by identifying the characteristics of the glocalization. The proposed problems of this study is: “what are the characteristics of glocalization of Chinese contemporary dance?” This study uses Roudometof’s three existing characteristics of glocalization theoretical analysis, that is, nationalization, indigenization, transnationalization characteristics, to illuminate a sociological significance of Chinese contemporary dance. The methodology of the study is focusing on literature research methods. It has passed only 21 years since the birth of Chinese contemporary dance. From the perspective of time, Chinese contemporary dance has the characteristics of “timeliness” that is synchronized with the world. From the aspect of culture, it has the core of “Oriental Culture” which is different from that of the West. From the perspective of ideology, it also has the socialist values embodied by the “minority”.
