ABSTRACT

This study examines the current status of education in the natural ecology field ofEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and investigates practitioners’ perceptions and training needsthrough a survey. The study reviews the characteristics and limitations of existing training programsand analyzes differences in training needs according to practitioners’ organizational affiliation andwork experience. The results show that current training programs are mostly short and theoryoriented, with limited opportunities for field-based and practical training. Although practitionersgenerally agree on the need for education, preferences for training level and methods differ by career stage: less-experienced practitioners prefer basic and introductory practical training, while moreexperienced practitioners favor advanced and specialized courses. Based on these findings, this studysuggests improving EIA education in the natural ecology field by developing tiered training programs, strengthening practice-oriented and taxonomy-specific content, and expanding field-based training. The results provide basic empirical evidence to support future improvements in professional educationsystems for EIA.
