ABSTRACT

The Viewpoint of Research to the Classical Korean Poetry and the Future Prospect Chung, Byung-heon The Society of Korean Classic Poetry was established as a first academy which specifies only on single category, ancient poetry on 1990 February. It has formed the basis of study of ancient poetry by 18 books of collection of papers. The purpose of this study was to organize types of papers that were done, and from that tried to establish desirable direction of research. There are four types of papers, which are; 1. Intensifying research on the author, 2. Relation between works and the world, 3. Discussion on the structure of work, and 4. Collecting material and Interpreting. Research on the writer, which has a long history in the area of literary research, takes up a large quantity. It is useful on that researchers can enrich interpretation of works by research on the writer. Discussion on the environment which surrounds the works is mostly done on the space where the work takes place. Many researches are done on writers and works that are related to the Honam area, and the reason seems to be the easy access to the subject. However, discussion on the structure of works have not been done as much. This can be explained on that researchers have been more interested in research of the world and collecting materials based on the region. Collecting and presenting new materials are necessary for activation of literary research. Recognizing and preventing loss of hidden materials are just as necessary. Another lesson from this research was that research of ancienty poetry should be done from now that researchers should regret reconsider research on the readers' adopting attitude and interpretation based on radical nationalism.
