ABSTRACT

A Study on the Retrospective Tendency of Gyunam Ha Baek-won's Travel Poetry Park, Myeong-hui This study speculated the retrospective tendency of Ha Baek-won's travel poetry. Mr. Ha wrote travel poetry after he traveled. It focused on his writing as he described the local nobles carefully, reflecting the past instead of describing simple lyric feeling. The subjects of reflection in his travel poetry were categorized as follows: ancestors, teachers and historical facts at historic sites. Mr. Ha travelled the places where he could understand ancestors' tracks and tried to deliver his understanding through his poetry. It indicates that it was an aspect of a local Confucian scholar who did not achieve his ideals. And he wrote poetry which reflected ancestors' tracks, which were written in his academic period. Ha Baek-won recognized the importance of our history. He travelled historic sites because he was interested in history and reflected history to show an aspect of his recognition. So, what did he seek for through reflective travel poetry? First, he sought for his root by reflecting ancestors; Second, he desired to recover Confucianism that was gradually declining through visiting historic sites. And this study concluded that he intended to earnestly look at national territory that had been forgotten through travelling of historic relics.
