ABSTRACT

This research investigates the connectivity and distances among economic policies examining presidential speeches on the economy from 1948 to 2008 via UCINET6.0. Only 828 Presidential discourses of the whole 6,090 speeches are accepted as available data to be handled in this study. The software UCINET6.0 is applied to analyze economic policy network data, which are 90 variables followed by the economic policies, and the objectives and purposes of them. This analysis is not equivalent to discourse analysis and text data mining, which refers to the process of deriving high-quality information from text. This analysis is to detect how concentrated the connectivities among economic policies with the evolution and change over time has been so far and what the most focused element of temporal sequence is at the moment. In this research, it is concluded that South Korea's economic policies are connected to two significant elements which are both national economic stability and economic revitalization as the main purposes of several objectives regarding industrial development.
