AB - This paper aims to present a brief overview of consortia' initiatives that have been taking place at national and international level. The developed countries witnessed the progressive growth of consortia initiatives; on the other hand, the situation is not encouraging in developing countries like India. Therefore in this paper an attempt has been made to trace the current developments in consortia awareness in Engineering Educational Institutions. For this purpose, a survey of Engineering Educational Institutions in Tamil Nadu has been considered to measure the consortia awareness and also the attitude towards joining any consortia. Based on the results of the survey a model consortium has been proposed for the Engineering Educational Institutions in Tamil Nadu.
