ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to analyze journal articles on ELT materials, over the past 12 years, in Korea. A total of 155 published articles were obtained by the method of relevant key-word search from nine leading journals certified by the National Research of Foundation. The results of the analysis revealed that the majority of studies examined aspects related to materials used in primary school education, while only 15 studies covered university student materials. The most frequent area of study was materials analysis, followed by materials development, and lastly, selection. The most frequently used method for the study was an analysis, followed by surveys. Based on the analysis, it is suggested that not only should the analytic study on language-related aspects in materials be examined, but also various research focuses and methods should be included more in leading journals.
