ABSTRACT

In 2014, the new 2015 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) was introduced with thepurpose of easing student’s test preparation and simplifying college admission criteria. The main changes in the 2015 CSAT include the integration of Type A and Type B in the English section, which were administered in the previous 2014 CSAT. This study aims at analyzing students’ perception on changes in the English section of the 2015 CSAT. Second-year high school students participated in the survey that incudedquestions about effects of the test and demand of the new test framework. In the survey, students reported that implementing the new 2015 test would bring about positivechanges such as streamlining college admission standards, reducing students' testpreparation burden, and revitalizing classroom teaching. Also, the students reportedhow the new English test framework should be constructed regarding difficulty level, content, and effectiveness of item types. Finally, suggestions and policy implication on the CSAT are also discussed.
