ABSTRACT

The degree of trust is one of the major determinants of B2C electronic commerce (EC) success. In this paper, we propose a research framework for the study of trust in B2C EC. Using this framework, we identify factors influencing trust of B2C EC, and analyze the relationships between trust factors identified and purchase intention. We also analyze the moderation effect of purchase experience on the relationship between trust factors and purchase intention. An empirical study identifies four trust factors: transaction stability, post-transaction reliability, system reliability, and information security. The study supports that other three factors except information security exert significant influence on purchase intention, and that purchase experience moderates the effect of trust factors on purchase intention.
