ABSTRACT

Yulgok believed that if Hyangyak were not practiced on the national scale or were not bring up the populace, it would not accomplish its purpose. Because, he thought that it will be made of the formal and simply enlightening practice will be baffled in the purpose of reproving vice and rewarding virtue for the villager's better life. Especially in the case of rural agreements written by Yulgok as a governor were planned for Confucian, first of all. We can say that Yulgok Hyangyak contain and reflects his social thought. Mutual suggestion of virtue has a meanings that bulit up one's a character when each individual practises concrete virtues in social groups. The Yulgok Hyangyak emphasize and heads for forming cooperation of the life. In these views it is worth while to relight Yulgok's Hyangyak that had effected on our tradition. We put all values in material things, so we are now loseing theory of mind-cultivation. Therefore, Yulgok's the Social Thought appeared on Four Virtues Embodied in Yulgok Hyangyak is characterized as his consistent system of thought which ranges widely from moral cultivation to the resolving the social problems and civilization of society.
