ABSTRACT

Science is considered to be the framework in which critical thinking is well realized. However, Kuhn's description to science is interpreted in the way critical thinking cannot play any roles in science, which is contrary to the common-sense view. Kuhn insisted that the purpose of science education is not to cultivate students' critical thinking but to inject dominant paradigms into them. After examining whether science is regarded as uncritical and irrational activity for Kuhn, this article concludes that uncriticality Kuhn mentioned can be applied to paradigm itself, not to the whole scientific activity within paradigm. Scientists are critical enough in Kuhn’s paradigm.
