AB - Rhetoric has been developed with the purpose of persuading someone in realistic situation. Rhetorics premises the situation which makes an individual or a mass audience to be persuaded or to accept a certain opinion through discourse and behave. Rhetoric was born from the realization that persuasion method can vary depending on the others and how important it is to put oneself into the other's position. Rhetoric can be defined as an action that put cloths in the form of language into existential thinking. It is unmeaningful if there is no substance that needs the cloths to be put on.
Rhetorical attitude puts on different cloths depending on the consumer expressing his/her thinking or opinion. Thinking or opinion being unchanged, it was the original thought of classical rhetoric which considers the change of expressing method depending on reader or listener.
A consideration of rhetorical situation can be equally adjusted into discussional situation since, in particular, an opponent in debate is a person whose opinion objects with oneself, while the audience of debate is also included and regarded as an opponent. A debate is performed to win over the other in a certain issue; it does not aim to suppress the other. If the purpose of debate is not suppression but persuasion, proving itself is insufficient in performing method and widespread options should be considered. Although it can be fully fulfilled with demonstration per se, demonstration is insufficient in a debate which intends the goal of persuasion, for dialectic or logic pursuing the truth itself. This is because a contradictory situation which has a complete logic but fails to persuade may well occur in reality. In this way, rhetorical is an essential virtue for debaters since it offers systematic methods in persuasion. Ethos, Pathos and Logos are persuasion methods in rhetoric that offers a plenty of ideas to debaters. A work of adjusting persuasion method in rhetoric into debate performance will enrich the process debate.
