AB - The objective of this study is to clarify that Satanlogy of Lee, Je-Ma is based on Confucian satanology and it is an original theory being embodied as four human constitutional types.
Most of preceding studies on Satanology of Lee, Je-Ma were focused on Sashim-Shinmool being mentioned as Sasang by Lee, Je-Ma but in this study, Sasangin based on Confucian benevolence was focused.
In ‘Dongeui Susebowon’ satanology, Lee, Je-Ma explained Sadan in four human constitutional forms including Taeyang-In, Taeeum-In, Soyang-In, Soeun-In. He clarified his theory by explaining Bibak Tamnain and Sasand-In based on Confucian benevolence. Therefore, the author of this study intends to discuss its developments being progressed so far and to explore a mutual correlation between Confucian benevolence and Sasangin that is a human doctrine of Lee, Je-Ma.
In order to prove this attempt, Confucian classic literatures, ‘Gyeokchigo’ of Lee, Je-Ma and ‘Dongeuisuse Bowon’, a medical book were reviewed. In ‘Gyeokchigo’ Lee discussed Bibak Tamnain based on Confucian benevolence as an academic ground. In addition, in ‘Dongeuisuse Bowon’, he materialized Sasangin under the correlation between human four main organs and benevolence. He presented his original human doctrine by dividing Sadan that is Confucian theoretical reasoning into human four constitutional types through a practical method of medical science.
Lee analyzed human temperament by each type by merging medical science and psychology with human body based on human-oriented ethics and advanced Confucianism. Under this background, he could establish his own very unique academic system as his observation and insight into universal principle and objects phenomenon were different from those of other people.
